((I’m doing this as a text post as opposed to answering the question so I can keep this on my Bobbins blog.

I originally made fiends when a friend told me they were afraid of clowns and I thought - ‘How could anyone be afraid of clowns?’
And when I researched I found there were a lot of strange phobias in general, so I made up clownfiends that eventually turned into fiends in general. Bobbins was going to be a character for an animated short I was in mid production for, but it was during a very bad time in my life and sadly never got off the ground.
However lets get onto what you actually came for;
Clownfiends and fiends in general are created as I answered earlier when fears started; it’s going by the heaven and hell mythos - but the middle ground has ‘planes’; so there’d be a plane of fear. A plane of sorrow. Aswell as a plane of joy, or a plane of pleasure.
It’s the grounds between good and evil, sort of a neccessary evil/overused good.
Fiends are the symbolic vision of the fears that they take on - fears such as a fear of spiders will be heavily overdetailed with those specific features that people fear in spiders; for example, someone might particularly be afraid of a spider’s eyes or a spider’s legs and that subsequent fiend will take on those details like extra eyes or legs.
It’s the same with fear of slugs or a fear of dogs.
Or even a fear of buttons if I must be quite frank.
But I limited myself to Bobbins because he is really the first of my babies - the first I ever made up.
I don’t want to give that much away without ruining the question possibility or ruin the inquiry people can find for themselves through the ask system; because that’s what it’s there for - but, Bobbins has spent…a very long time in the human world, fiends live much longer than humans or mortals in general. He’s made several human friends and lives with only one - I am not going to divulge who it is though, that is all there for curiousity’s sake.
